Episode 30 - Dragon of the Darkness Flame

In the first round of the Dark Tournament, Team Urameshi is facing off against Team Rokuyukai. The score is tied at 1-1, and Koto calls for the next fighters. Zeru steps into the ring for Team Rokuyukai. Hiei knows that Zeru is the strongest one left on their team, and since Yusuke is still asleep, he steps into the ring as well. Each of the fighters have huge egos, and they both know about the other's techniques. Koto calls for the match to begin.

Zeru starts off by summoning huge streams of fire, which take out many of the audience members. Zeru begins launching fireballs at Hiei, who easily dodges them all with his speed. The fireballs land in the audience, killing more and more of the audience members. Zeru thinks that Hiei won't last much longer, but Hiei says that he's getting bored. At this, Zeru powers up and his whole body is engulfed in flames. Zeru's body turns red, and he punches Hiei in the stomach and lights Hiei's body on fire. Unsatisfied, Zeru launches another fireball at Hiei, and it looks like Hiei is finished.

Zeru turns and begins to walk away, when Hiei laughs, making fun of Zeru's power. Zeru turns to see Hiei still engulfed in flames, but standing up. His Jagan Eye is protecting him. Zeru is angry that Hiei's "fake eye" is protecting him, but Hiei then tells him that he never should have insulted the Jagan Eye, because in a way, it has a mind of its own. Hiei says that he is going to use the Dragon of the Darkness Flame, and just his right arm will do. Zeru is scared shitless, and Kurama and Koenma are scared as well, because they know how devastating this attack can be.

Hiei fires the Dragon of the Darkness Flame, telling Zeru that even though his Jagan Eye may not be natural, it gives him exactly what he needs. A black dragon shoots out of Hiei's arm and hits Zeru, burning him to nothing but an outline of his body on the wall of the stadium that separates the crowd from the arena. Everyone is shocked, including the members of Team Urameshi. Kuwabara is excited that Hiei could have the power to defeat anyone, but then realizes that he could use it on him. Hiei assures Kuwabara that he will at least wait until after the tournament if he does use it on him or Yusuke.

The two members of Team Rokuyukai that haven't yet fought realize that they don't stand a chance and run off into the darkness, where thuds are heard, and an extremely drunken man emerges, carrying the two of them, who are dead. He asks Koto if he will be able to substitute, since two members of Team Rokuyukai are dead. Koto says that its alright, and the drunken man is excited. He stumbles to the middle of the ring, and Kuwabara and Shizuru think that there's something powerful about him. Hiei actually agrees with Kuwabara for once.

Team Urameshi tries to decide who will fight Chu, the drunken man, and they realize that the only ones who haven't fought yet are the Masked Fighter and Yusuke. Everyone looks over to Yusuke, but finds that he isn't there anymore. They look in the ring, and Yusuke is in it, finally awake from the smell of the alcohol. Yusuke greets everyone by telling the demons that he's going to kick all their asses. Yusuke is ready for battle, but Chu is having a hangover. Toguro is watching, and wants to see how Yusuke's improved since they last fought.

The demons in the audience are chanting "Kill Yusuke," and Kuwabara wonders why they all hate him so much. Hiei explains that as Spirit Detective, Yusuke is a "boogeyman" to them. Kurama is worried that Yusuke could have a tough fight, because he thinks that Chu is Team Rokuyukai's real leader, not Zeru. Chu explains that the reason he was chosen to be the substitute is because he sucks at Rock-Paper-Scissors. Koto explains that Team Rokuyukai chose their roster today by playing Rock-Paper-Scissors, and Chu lost. Yusuke removes his jacket, and someone in the crowd shouts that Chu's just a lousy drunk. Chu runs into the crowd and strangles the guy, then grabs someone's liquor.

Chu announces that he is a master of drunken fighting, and then he guzzles down the alcohol. Chu gets back in the ring, still stumbling around. Chu is ready for battle, and so is Yusuke, and if Yusuke wins this fight, then Team Urameshi will win the first round of the Dark Tournament.
